Pipelayer

• Assemble, install, and repair underground pipes and fittings
• Prepare pipe-laying areas by directing trenching and grading
• Perform Laborer functions as required
• Assist equipment Operators in placing pipe
• Direct equipment Operators with hand signals
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools
• Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits
• Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in underground trenches
• Assemble and install metal, PVC, ductile iron, and concrete valves, fittings, and pipe
• Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement
• Test pipes for leakage
• Measure and cut pipe
• Promote Garney Goals and Philosophies

• Previous experience with pipe laying
• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, and storm drain
• Must be willing to complete trainings and certifications provided by Garney, such as Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training Certification, and OSHA 10 hour
• Must be willing to travel and work overtime
• May be required to complete a post-offer physical and a site-specific background check

Proficient in using hand tools and equipment for pipe laying and back filling, while effectively collaborating with equipment operators.
