Sheet Metal Mechanic

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Sheet Metal Mechanic in Rural Hall, NC. Leapros Skilled Trades is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic for a contract demolition and refit project at an active industrial energy facility in Rural Hall, NC. In this role, you will perform commercial HVAC sheet metal fabrication, field fabrication, installation, and layout as part of a multi-trade construction team delivering high-quality ductwork systems throughout the facility.

The ideal candidate brings proven blueprint reading ability, hands-on experience with HVAC ductwork installation and field fabrication, valid lift certification, and the physical capability to work safely in a demanding industrial construction environment.

Pay: $30 to $35 Per Hour BOE

• Lift/Aerial Work Platform Certification
• OSHA 10 Construction Safety Certification

• Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine layout, configuration, and sequencing of sheet metal ductwork installation.
• Perform demolition and refit of existing sheet metal ductwork systems in accordance with project scope.
• Measure ductwork, draw up fittings, and develop accurate material lists to support project execution.
• Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal duct components in the field using hand and power tools.
• Fasten joints and seams securely and modify ductwork as needed to accommodate field conditions.
• Climb ladders and work at elevation to hang and support ductwork throughout the facility.
• Assist with complex layout activities, identify applicable standard codes, and communicate site issues to the project team.
• Operate aerial work platforms in compliance with site safety requirements and completed lift training.
• Coordinate and communicate with other trades on site to maintain productivity and resolve field conflicts.
• Support general material handling and installation activities as directed by the project team.

• Demonstrated experience with commercial HVAC sheet metal fabrication, installation, and applicable industry standards.
• Proven ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in sheet metal and ductwork installation.
• Experience with field fabrication, material takeoff, duct layout, and fitting development.
• Ability to perform joint and seam fastening and execute duct modifications in the field.
• Experience coordinating work alongside other trades in a multi-trade construction environment.
• Knowledge of standard HVAC duct codes and construction safety practices.
• Prior experience working on energy plants or large-scale industrial construction projects is a plus.

• Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights, including hanging ductwork in the field.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, stretch, twist, and reach for prolonged periods throughout a shift.
• Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 50-75 pounds.
• Ability to work in tight or restricted spaces as required by field conditions.
• Must be able to work in hot, cold, dusty, or humid conditions depending on worksite environment.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for precision sheet metal fabrication and installation tasks.
• May be exposed to loud noises and heights; must adhere to all applicable OSHA safety standards.
• Must be able to use hands to handle, control, and operate tools and equipment throughout the workday.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $30 to $35 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
