Concrete Finisher - Oakboro, NC

State Utility Contractors is currently seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher to join our team. This position is responsible for placing, leveling, finishing, and repairing concrete surfaces on heavy civil construction projects, including water and wastewater treatment facilities.

The ideal candidate will have strong concrete finishing experience, be comfortable working in demanding outdoor environments, and take pride in producing safe, durable, and high-quality finished concrete.

Responsibilities:

• Place, vibrate, level, and finish concrete surfaces
• Inspect forms to verify proper dimensions, depths, slopes, and elevations before concrete placement
• Remove surface imperfections and complete finishing work before concrete fully hardens
• Apply appropriate finishes based on project specifications and surface requirements
• Create safe and functional surface finishes designed to prevent slipping and water collection
• Use hand tools, power tools, screeds, floats, trowels, and other concrete finishing equipment
• Assist with forming, concrete placement, and other related construction activities as needed
• Calculate basic concrete quantities and dimensions
• Communicate with Foremen, Superintendents, and other crew members to coordinate work activities
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and project requirements
• Maintain a clean and organized work area

Experience and Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of concrete placement and finishing experience
• Heavy commercial, bridge, or heavy civil construction experience preferred
• Water and wastewater treatment plant construction experience is a plus
• Strong knowledge of concrete placement, finishing techniques, and surface requirements
• Experience using concrete finishing hand tools and power tools
• Ability to read measurements and perform basic construction math
• Ability to recognize and correct surface imperfections
• Must be dependable and able to work effectively as part of a construction crew
• Must be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends when required
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation
• Must be able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working around elevated structures, tanks, and excavations
• Must follow all State Utility safety requirements and procedures
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• College degree is not required
• Relevant concrete finishing experience is required
• On-the-job training and opportunities for advancement are available
