Work ScheduleMonday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Supervisor is available after hours as needed and on a rotating basis to provide supervision and consultation to on-call social workers for the agency. Employee will manage emergency shelters during times of disaster. Employee serves as a member of the agency leadership team.
Duties and Responsibilities75% - Supervisor is primarily responsible for supervising permanency planning/adoption social workers. Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that social workers work towards timely permanence for the children in agency custody. Supervisor must guide staff in casework as it relates to child protection, appropriate placement, and needed services.
Position must ensure that all NC General Statutes, administrative code, policies, and federal laws are followed in both practice and administrative functions. Supervisor must insure that casework practice is appropriate and goal oriented and that all case documentation is accurate and up to date in the NC FAST system.
Position interacts with attorneys, judges, guardians at litem, and other court officials in ensuring the timely establishments of permanence for children.
Position is also responsible for supervision of the foster home licensing and recruitment social worker. Supervisor guides this social worker in recruiting families from the community to foster and adopt children. This includes the training required for such families as well as the actual requirements for foster family licensure. Supervisor also reviews and approves all adoptions including agency, relative, and independent adoptions.
Position may be responsible for rotating after-hours on-call supervision of on-call social workers for the agency and, in the absence of CPS Supervisor, may act as back up. These duties include screening and assigning cases of abuse, neglect, or dependency. Staffing these cases with social workers to assess a child’s risk or harm in the home and take appropriate legal steps if necessary, to protect the child.
Administrative duties include completion and monitoring of monthly, quarterly and yearly reports related to permanency planning and adoptions for the agency. Responsibilities include managing monthly foster care billing and reimbursement process. Supervisor is directly responsible for work evaluations and discipline of social workers in the permanency planning unit. The supervisor promotes and interprets professional standards and ethics of conduct to staff.
Position serves as a representative in agency, community boards, and task forces. Supervisor works with Program Administrator to create staff development and growth.
Supervisor is responsible for special projects and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training.
