Income Maintenance Caseworker – Food Stamps & Medicaid
Swain County has an opening for an Income Maintenance Caseworker – Food Stamps & Medicaid. The primary responsibility of this position is to determine/re-determine eligibility for Food Stamps and Medicaid as an Income Maintenance worker. Employees must explain Food Stamp and Medicaid programs and benefits options and refer clients to other programs and services that could meet their needs as appropriate.
Work is performed and supervised with an Income Maintenance Supervisor. Training is provided. The normal work schedule includes Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM. An additional expectation and requirement of this job may include but not limited to Disaster relief Duty if needed. Up to $39,363 salary, with an increase at 6 months.

Computer Program – Full Time Employees with Swain County for a minimum of one year, can buy a computer up to $2,500 with an interest free loan.
Pre-Paid Legal Services – Employees may enroll to receive Pre-Paid Legal Services if they wish.
Employee Assistance Program – A program providing counseling and referral assistance in dealing with personal problems ranging from drug or alcohol dependency, to marital or financial problems, to work-related stress. Services are available, at no cost, to eligible employees and their family members 24 hours a day.
Deferred Compensation Plans – Swain County offers 457 or 401(k) retirement plans.
Longevity Pay – Employees with three or more years of eligible service will receive an annual payment in a lump sum based on years of service and percentages.
