Administrative Specialist II (S)
This position is located at Marion Correctional Institution, Marion, North Carolina. Marion Correctional Institution is a close-custody prison housing male offenders. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 793 offenders.
Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performs the full range of Administrative Officer responsibilities during periods of leave or absence, ensuring compliance with agency policies, procedures, and established deadlines.
- Supervises staff and performs oversight of accounting, trust fund, mailroom, and warehouse.
- Responsible for managing fixed assets and inventory procedures in compliance with departmental and state policies.
- Maintains confidential records and sensitive information while ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with NCDAC policies.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the organization.
Salary Grade Range: $41,206.00 - $72,113.00

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

The State of North Carolina/Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) uses the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) as a referral resource for applicants who need to have their credentials certified as equivalent.
Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 Member-4 Form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to their applications.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS), along with the state application, if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former members of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard, with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service, must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22, along with the state application.
The NC Dept. of Adult Correction must adhere to the US Dept. of Justice Final Rule on the "National Standards to Prevent, Detect, and Respond to Prison Rape."

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
