Cat-Tran Bus/Shuttle Driver (T00936)
Job Summary:
Operate the Cat Tran campus shuttle on a 11‑month term schedule, transporting passengers and maintaining vehicle safety. Duties involve driving according to schedule, inspecting and cleaning the vehicle, completing operating reports, and adhering to safety protocols on the WCU campus.
Responsibilities
- Drive a campus shuttle vehicle and transport passengers per established schedule.
- Inspect and clean the vehicle before and after each shift.
- Complete operating reports and maintain accurate logs.
- Follow all North Carolina motor vehicle laws, Federal regulations for passenger vehicles, and campus policies.
- Operate safely in congested campus areas and during emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license; must possess or be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement.
- Knowledge of North Carolina motor vehicle laws, federal passenger vehicle regulations, and campus geography.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write legibly; to speak clearly over radio and to passengers.
- Experience operating a public transportation vehicle, heavy truck, or similar heavy vehicle preferred.
- Willingness to undergo pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing if a CDL is held.
- Background check and driver license history check will be conducted on all considered candidates.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school graduation.
Benefits and Employment Terms
- Hourly rate of $15–$16 per hour depending on endorsements.
- Position is temporary, includes no state‑sponsored benefits; ACA coverage may be available.
