Job Description

Title: Transportation Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Transportation

Terms of Employment: Full Time- 12 Months

Salary: $3357.70 - $3730.21

FLSA Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED or higher
  • Course work in typewriting or keyboarding, data entry, standard office computer software or terminal operation.

Supervises: None

Essential Job Functions
  • Approves personal reasons leave for drivers and assistants
  • Effectively covers bus routes using standby drivers and substitutes, as well as other drivers with downtime
  • Secures substitutes for absent drivers and assistants
  • Maintains a daily log of all substitute drivers' work assignments
  • Maintains a detailed route sheet for early discoveries, citywide kindergarten, and special needs students
  • Maintains and monitors two radio systems to dispatch drivers and communicate with the garage, supervisors, and administration
  • Transports children in buses and automobiles in emergencies
  • Assign buses to substitute drivers
  • Informs schools of all changes in bus assignments daily
  • Maintains a daily log of bus operations and activities, including breakdowns, calls to police, parents, schools, and administration
  • Locates responsible parties to receive special needs students when parents or guardians are not available
  • Makes general announcements to drivers and assistants
  • Checks and reviews a variety of data for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established standards and procedures
  • Collects and prepares data for records and reports
  • Maintains computerized records and generates appropriate reports
  • Operates standard office, word processing, and data processing equipment
  • Assists in answering office phones
  • Performs related work as required
Physical and Cognitive Requirements

The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the Transportation Coordinator job classification within Hoke County Schools.

Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

Must be able to:
  • Prepare, read, and comprehend a variety of job-related forms, reports, spreadsheets, maps, plans, records, documentation, and correspondence in all languages required by the job

  • Operate/use a variety of automated office machines and other job-specific office equipment
