Responsibilities

Summary:

The Food Service Warehouse Specialist receives, stores, and distributes food service supplies, material, and equipment within the facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Food Service Warehouse Specialist receives and counts incoming food items, and records inventory manually or using computer.
  • Packs and unpacks items to be stocked on shelves in warehouse.
  • Verifies inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigates discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • The Food Service Warehouse Specialist stores items in an orderly and accessible manner in the food warehouse or other areas.
  • Marks stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • The Food Service Warehouse Specialist cleans and maintains supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Receives, compiles, and distributes food item requests.
  • Determines proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Keeps records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
  • Examines and inspects stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
  • Provides assistance or direction to food service workers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certification required.
  • Warehouse experience desired.
  • Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to use simple mathematics to solve problems.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
