Compensation- $45.00 – $50.00 per hour

Job Description – EHS Manager (Crane Operations Specialty)SAVI EHS is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager with a specialty in crane and rigging operations to support a major construction project in Charleston, South Carolina. This role represents the General Contractor’s safety team
, with a primary focus on oversight and compliance of crane and lifting operations performed by trade partners.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of crane operations, rigging practices, critical lift planning, and lift execution
, along with the ability to review and evaluate subcontractor crane plans to ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC and project-specific requirements.
This position will work closely with project leadership, lift directors, crane operators, and trade partner safety teams to ensure safe, coordinated, and compliant lifting operations across the project.
Key Responsibilities- Represent the General Contractor’s EHS program with emphasis on crane and rigging safety
- Review and approve trade partner crane and lift plans
- Evaluate lift operations for compliance with OSHA Subpart CC and project safety standards
- Verify proper crane setup including:
- Ground conditions
- Crane assembly and configuration
- Load charts
- Radius calculations
- Rigging configurations
- Participate in pre-lift and critical lift meetings
- Observe crane operations and lifting activities to ensure safe execution
- Assist with planning and coordination of multiple crane operations
- Ensure proper implementation of lift director and signal person responsibilities
- Conduct and document daily EHS inspections
- Support and review Daily Hazard Analyses (DHAs) and lift-specific JHAs
- Verify crane operator certifications and rigging qualifications
- Confirm inspection records for cranes and rigging equipment
- Investigate crane-related incidents and near misses
- Partner with field supervision to prevent lifting hazards
- Deliver safety orientations and crane-specific training
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with project safety requirements
- Collaborate with trade partner EHS representatives and project management
- Maintain documentation of crane activity and compliance records
- Promote a proactive safety culture focused on safe lifting operations
- 5+ years of construction EHS experience
- Strong experience with crane and rigging operations
- Experience representing the General Contractor safety team
- Experience reviewing crane plans and lift plans
- Understanding of critical lift procedures
- Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC – Cranes and Derricks
- Experience coordinating crane activities on large construction projects
- Strong field presence and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety management tools
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred)
- OSHA 30 (Required)
- OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 (Preferred)
- CHST, STSC, ASP, CSP, or GSP (Preferred)
- NCCCO or rigging/signal person training (Preferred)
