Chipton-Ross is seeking 10 Structural & Payload Design Engineer 4’s for a contract opportunity in North Charleston, SC.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)- Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- 9+ years of engineering experience in design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of education and experience
Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3‑D CAD tools and other design methods, providing product definition to engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
Leads performance, integration, and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
Assists with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Works under minimal direction.
The Payloads organization is responsible for the interior of the airplane, cargo compartments, exterior markings, associated systems, and cabin safety. This role spans the product lifecycle: supporting customer configuration development, supplier engagement, validating and verifying design requirements, integrating business needs, and supporting the product through production and certification processes. The candidate will interface with project engineering, production engineering, program/product teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions.

- Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent
- Experience in aerospace interiors, materials, and properties, design criteria and release processes
- Experience in program or project management, leading projects or program proposals of varying complexity (including schedule, finance, resources, risk, and issues management)
- Experience leading a cross‑functional team
- Demonstrates good problem‑solving skills and critical thinking
- Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry program (e.g., ABET accredited). Typically 9 or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD + 4 years, Master + 7 years).
WORK HOURSFull‑Time / First Shift – 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
ADDITIONALDomestic travel: 10% travel to Everett, WA.
