Location: North Charleston, South Carolina (Onsite)
Role OverviewOur organization is seeking a Struct & Payload Design Engineer to join a dynamic and fast‑paced environment. This role involves developing, integrating, and documenting structural and interior payload system requirements throughout the product lifecycle, from customer configuration and supplier engagement to design verification and production support. The candidate will interface with project engineering, production, program teams, and management to implement engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and modify structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3‑D CAD tools.
- Provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and external customers.
- Perform and integrate analytical and test results to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements.
- Manage supplier development, test, and production activities, coordinating to optimize design.
- Develop new design and analysis processes to improve development effectiveness and quality.
- Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs.
- Provide engineering support and project leadership within a production system.
- Support the design and build of aircraft interiors, including stow bins and crew areas, focusing on structural and mechanical aspects.
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a focus on Structural, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil engineering. (Technology degrees are not permitted.)
Experience: 5+ years of engineering experience in design, integration, and/or certification. A Master’s degree may substitute for two additional years of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.
- Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria, and release processes.
- Experience in program or project management, including development and execution of schedules, financial assessments, and risk management.
- Experience leading a cross‑functional team.
- Proficiency in conveying information and ideas to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development.
- Experience with in a demanding production system is beneficial.
