As a Systems Safety Specialist (C5
ISR – Sensor) with JCTM, you will support system safety engineering and compliance activities across defense acquisition programs. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams spanning engineering, logistics, program management, original equipment manufacturers, and government stakeholders to integrate safety requirements into the development, modification, testing, fielding, operation, and disposal of C5
ISR sensor systems.
This position requires an experienced professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, dynamic, and project‑oriented environment and can rapidly interpret and apply complex technical, regulatory, and programmatic requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, review, and maintain system safety documentation, including: PESHE/NEPA, Safety Assessment Reviews, Hazard Logs, Warnings & Cautions addenda, Safety Data Sheets, Facility Impact Reports, Technical Instructions (TIs), Safety of Use Messages (SOUMs), Disposal Plans, FRACAS/mishap reports, TEMPs, SEPs/SAMPs, and System Safety Program Plans (SSPP).
- Support OEM and vendor coordination for safety compliance, safety data, and hazardous material management.
- Identify and track Critical Safety Items (CSI); support Design Interface activities to embed safety requirements during development and modification.
- Perform ILA support for safety‐related elements; coordinate with program offices on regulatory and directive compliance throughout the system life cycle.
- Participate in IPT meetings, Safety Review Boards, and working groups; prepare observations, recommendations, meeting minutes, and action item tracking.
- Review and recommend updates to IPS documentation (TMs, QRGs, Fielding Plans) from a safety perspective; prepare responses to program taskers for Government review.

Collaborate with a diverse team of technical and functional experts while gaining practical experience with specialized sensor systems, military safety standards, acquisition documentation, integrated product support, and lifecycle risk‑management processes.

You Have:- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- 12+ years of hands‑on defense system safety experience.
- Experience in at least three specialized safety disciplines:
- Lithium‑ion battery safety and compliance with NAVSEAINST 9310.1C and S9310‑AQ‑SAFE‑010
- Laser safety, Laser Safety Review Board packages, and Nominal Ocular Hazard Distance analysis
- Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health compliance, including OSHA requirements, Human Systems Integration hazard analysis, and personal protective equipment
- Radio frequency safety, safe stand‑off distance calculations, HERO, HERP, and HERF analysis, and spectrum‑management coordination
