Position: Structures & Payload Systems Design Engineer (Level 4) - Aerospace

Location: North Charleston, SC

Job Type: 6 Months contract

Shift: First Shift (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

Pay Rate: $95/hr. on W2

Position Overview

We are seeking a senior Structures & Payload Systems Design Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, integrating, and documenting structural and interior payload system designs throughout the complete product lifecycle-supporting customer configuration, supplier management, production integration, and regulatory certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Integration: Develop, maintain, and modify 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models and documentation for structural/interior payload components and systems.
  • Testing & Validation: Lead performance integration, test analysis, and verification to ensure systems meet strict program specifications and requirements.
  • Supplier Management: Coordinate with aerospace suppliers to manage component development, testing, and production optimization.
  • Compliance & Certification: Ensure design compliance with regulatory authorities (FAA/EASA) for cabin interiors, cargo systems, monuments, and exterior livery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with production engineering, project managers, and technical staff to implement engineering solutions and support production operations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences).
  • Experience: 9+ years of relevant engineering experience (or Master + 7 years / PhD + 4 years).
  • Export Control: Must qualify as a U.S. Person for export compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong working knowledge of FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA regulatory standards.
  • Hands-on experience with aircraft interior monuments (galleys, lavatories, BFE), lighting, or cargo compartment systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical project management (schedules, risk mitigation, and resource planning).
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD engineering design tools and design-for-manufacturing practices.
