Systems Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Engineering Design & Technologists
The Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) Mechanical Engineer will apply knowledge of engineering methodologies and practices to solve a variety of component-level through system-of-systems-level technical problems. The Mechanical Engineer will lead research, design, development, test, deployment, and sustainment activities for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber-Defense, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Electronic Warfare (C6
ISR/EW) systems and capabilities for the Department of the Navy in support of the United States Marine Corps. The Mechanical Engineer will actively work with internal team members and customer/stakeholder entities to complete project goals.
Translate functional requirements into technical specifications and solutions for mechanical systems and components.
Develop architectures and system components consistent with technical specifications and best engineering practices.
Develop inputs/products to support Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR).
Support the kick-off, execution, closeout, comment adjudication, and all facets associated with SETR events.
Conduct, analyze, and recommend resolutions to problems and issues, and prepare and present reports to stakeholders.
Build and maintain system-level 3D models of ACV components and systems using CAD software.
Create and maintain 2D technical drawings from 3D models, adhering to relevant standards (e.g., ASME Y14.100).
Analyze user needs and requirements to plan and conduct system development and improvement.
Develop and collaborate on system designs to meet operational needs and environmental factors, considering vehicle integration best practices.
Prepare, conduct, and manage System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) for the Program Management Office (PMO).
Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and kits for efficient manufacturing and integration of mechanical systems.
Structure and develop Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) to implement design improvements.
Oversee integration, repair, maintenance, and assist in the development or replacement of mechanical systems/equipment onboard the ACV.
Effectively communicate orally and in writing with peers, subordinates, senior leadership (internally/externally) and customers/stakeholders.
Interim Secret clearance required prior to starting, an active DoD Secret clearance is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or a related field and 8+ years of experience.
Proficiency in creating 3D models and 2D drawings of singular components to complex multi-part assemblies, including sheet metal design and complex welded assemblies.
Extensive knowledge of Solid Works, Creo, and AutoCAD.
Familiarity with the creation of Technical Data Packages and associated standards such as MIL-STD-31000 and ASME Y14.100.
Knowledge of configuration management practices, including developing engineering change notices, modifying, and/or updating engineering Bills of Materials, and creating problem reports.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with peers, subordinates, senior leadership (internally/externally) and customers/stakeholders.
Ability to plan, organize, and execute complex program-level/system-of-systems-level efforts.
Ability to analyze and decompose requirements to ensure all aspects of a system/sub-system design meet the requirements.
Ability to understand and adhere to rigorous configuration/ and change management processes and policies.
Capability to read and understand technical documentation, cable assembly drawings, and schematics for complex or multi-system architecture.
