Classification Caseworker Trenton Correctional Inst, Trenton; EDGEFIELD Level 2

Responsibilities

• Under the general supervision of the classification case manager, evaluates automated inmates and manual record to determine eligibility for institutional assignment, custody changes, jobs and treatment program.
• Serves as chairperson of the institutional classification committee.
• Coordinates an equitable classification system for a caseload of approximately 250 inmates.
• Conducts periodic reviews of inmate's progress. Interviews inmates relating to their general institutional adjustment or related problems.
• Responds to inquiries of information from departmental officials and other agencies.
• Operates the SCDC computer system to enter/retrieve information pertaining to inmate's social, criminal, educational and family history.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

A high school diploma and related experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required related experience.

• A bachelor's degree;
• an associate’s degree and any one (1) year combination of administrative and/or correctional experience;
• a high school diploma and any (2) year combination of administrative and/or correctional experience.
