CVICU Registered Nurse - North Charleston, SC

Provide advanced nursing care in a specialized Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) known for its exemplary patient outcomes and award-winning practice. This contract position supports critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease and complex cardiac conditions, employing high-level skills in cardiac surgery care, ventricular assist devices, ECMO, and pediatric palliative support.

Situated in North Charleston, SC, the PCICU is part of a renowned Level I trauma and teaching hospital exhibiting Magnet status, reflecting its commitment to nursing excellence and advanced clinical practices. The facility features a 29-bed unit with an average daily census of 26 patients and provides comprehensive support services, including respiratory therapy and pediatric pharmacy. Schedule/Hours:

• Night shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Holiday rotation participation expected

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years pediatric cardiac ICU nursing experience required
• CV and pediatric nursing expertise essential; VAD experience highly preferred
• Acceptance of first-time pediatric cardiac ICU nurses
• Valid SC or multi-state compact RN license required
• Certifications:
  
  PALS and BLS (American Heart Association required), ACLS preferred

Responsibilities:

• Deliver patient-centered, high-acuity nursing care at ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on patient acuity
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage complex cardiac therapies including heart transplants and cardiac catheterizations
• Provide ventilatory and cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, and other advanced life support measures
• Participate in unit initiatives to maintain Beacon Award status and assist in quality patient outcome improvements
• Float within the scope of practice as needed to support unit flexibility
