Overview

Position Overview: The Site Manager is responsible for leading and managing the North Charleston site, including the Mica Processing Plant, Effect Pigment manufacturing operations, and the warehouse serving as a global supply point. The role establishes and executes the site vision and strategic plans aligned with overall business objectives. This position holds full accountability for operational performance, financial results (earnings and cash), safety compliance, capital allocation, organizational effectiveness, and cross-site supply alignment.

The Site Manager partners closely with upstream operations in Hartwell, GA and downstream operations in Peekskill, NY to optimize material flow, production strategy, and customer fulfillment. The role drives a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement while ensuring reliable service to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities
  • Talent Management
    • Lead, develop, and retain site leadership and workforce across all functions.
    • Drive organizational design, succession planning, and bench strength.
    • Coach and develop direct reports to ensure accountability and performance.
    • Foster a culture of engagement, empowerment, and continuous improvement.
    • Promote and sustain a Zero-Incident Mindset across the site.
  • Environmental, Health, Safety, Security & Sustainability (EHSSS)
    • Accountable for full site compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate EHSSS requirements.
    • Develop and implement systems to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous safety improvement.
    • Lead safety culture initiatives to advance injury-free operations.
  • Production & Operations
    • Develop and execute the Annual Operating Plan for:
      • North Charleston Mica Processing Plant
      • Effect Pigment Plant (multiple manufacturing lines)
    • Align production strategy with upstream supply from Hartwell, GA and downstream requirements in Peekskill, NY.
    • Optimize mica and effect pigment processing to deliver sustainable, lowest-cost solutions that meet evolving customer and industry demands.
    • Accountable for site operating results (earnings and cash performance).
    • Serve as a member of the Color Materials North America Operations Leadership Team.
    • Participate in corporate initiatives and special projects as required.
  • Quality
    • Ensure effective management and continuous improvement of quality systems.
    • Maintain certifications including ISO, Kosher, and Halal.
    • Collaborate with Hartwell and Peekskill teams to strengthen quality processes and feedback systems.
    • Drive improvements in process consistency, product performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Global Supply Point & Warehouse
    • Oversee warehouse operations serving domestic and export customers.
    • Ensure inventory accuracy, cost control, and delivery reliability.
    • Maintain effective coordination with supply chain and customer-facing teams.
  • Maintenance
    • Ensure effective implementation of value-based maintenance programs.
    • Optimize contractor utilization, technical materials management, and overall site reliability.
  • Engineering & Capital
    • Oversee process and project engineering resources.
    • Review and approve capital expenditures.
    • Ensure effective execution of capital projects aligned with operational and strategic priorities.
Required Education & Experience
  • 15+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience across multiple departments.
  • Minimum 10 years of managerial experience with direct reports.
  • Minimum 5 years serving on a site leadership team.
  • Prior Plant or Operations Manager experience required.
  • Proven track record delivering results in EHS, cost reduction, quality improvement, cycle time reduction, asset optimization, and capital project execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, manage employee relations, drive cultural improvement, and build organizational capability.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to interpret complex technical, operational, and financial data to drive effective decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all organizational levels and with external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
