Low country Youth Services (LYS) is a youth development and mentoring organization serving young people across the Low country region of South Carolina. Through structured programming, mentorship, leadership development, service projects, and community partnerships, LYS equips young men and women with the tools to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Over the past several years, LYS has expanded from a single program to multiple initiatives serving hundreds of youth annually. With strong board leadership, community partnerships, and growing visibility, the organization is poised for its next season of growth and sustainability.
We are seeking a visionary, relationship-driven, and operationally strong Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter.
Position OverviewThe Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of Low country Youth Services and is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, financial health, fundraising, and operational management of the organization.
The ED works in partnership with the Board of Directors to advance the mission, expand community impact, strengthen partnerships, and ensure long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities Organizational Leadership- Provide strategic leadership aligned with the mission and long‑term vision of LYS
- Partner with the Board of Directors to implement strategic priorities
- Lead and manage staff and volunteers
- Foster a culture of mentorship, accountability, and excellence
- Lead fundraising strategy, including grants, individual donors, corporate sponsor ships, and events
- Build and steward relationships with funders and community stakeholders
- Identify sustainable revenue growth opportunities
- Oversee budget development and financial management
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and nonprofit regulations
- Maintain fiscal responsibility and transparency
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization
- Strengthen partnerships with schools, nonprofits, faith‑based organizations, and community leaders
- Represent LYS at public events and community initiatives
- Ensure high-quality implementation of mentoring and youth development programs
- Monitor program outcomes and impact metrics
- Support innovation and expansion of programming
- Proven nonprofit leadership experience (Executive Director or senior leadership preferred)
- Strong fundraising and grant‑writing success
- Financial management experience, including budget oversight
- Experience working with youth development or mentoring programs
- Ability to build partnerships across diverse communities
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
