Job Description Summary
Summary of the platform and scope: an ambulatory surgery platform with multiple suites and procedure rooms across pediatric and some general adult services. On-site anesthesia staff include Anesthesiologists, CRNAs, CAAs and Anesthesia Residents. All procedures are outpatient, and facilities uphold MUHA standards and Joint Commission accreditation.

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) prepares prescribed solutions and administers anesthesia following specified methods and procedures. Informs the physician of patient condition during anesthesia. Performs pre- and post-anesthesia visits and documents anesthesia notes on patient records.
Minimum Training and EducationMust be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Education Program approved for anesthesia by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs, and certified or recertified by the National Board on Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. The minimum education requirement for hires after March 1, 2019 is a master’s degree or higher with a concentration in Nurse Anesthesia.
Must demonstrate current clinical competency, be proficient with anesthesia equipment, and maintain knowledge of safety practices and universal precautions. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with surgeons, residents, anesthesia personnel, and nursing staff. CRNAs practice under the clinical supervision of the anesthesiologist and the administrative supervision of the CRNA manager.
Must be recognized as an APRN, or eligible, with current license to practice, or eligible to obtain practice in the state of South Carolina. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, or BLS for Healthcare Providers according to American Heart Association guidelines.
Physical RequirementsAbility to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs; ability to work indoors and outdoors, at height, in confined spaces, and to perform repetitive motions and fine motor tasks. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, and to exert up to 50 lbs of force as needed. Vision and hearing requirements are included, along with color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required. Ability to work in a latex-safe environment. Ability to use respirator as required.
