- Perform hemodialysis treatment procedures and provide safe, efficient, high-quality specialized registered nursing care
- Assess patients and document responses to renal failure and treatments
- Recognize changes in dialysis patients and adjust therapy as necessary
- Respond to emergencies, notify the nephrologist when necessary, and seek direction
- Prioritize patient care and communicate priorities to staff
- Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans using a team approach
- Assume primary nurse responsibilities as directed
- Communicate significant information to team members and act as a liaison between the head nurse, staff, and patients
- Complete accurate and thorough documentation and verify treatment orders
- Perform unit operations including setup, reuse, trash removal, water checks, opening and closing, bath mixing, machine and station cleaning, and bath distribution
- Administer medications and educate patients about dosage, purpose, and side effects
- Obtain laboratory specimens and perform routine tests
- Delegate responsibilities and assume Charge Nurse functions when required
- Educate patients about their disease and treatment
- Follow infection-control policies and participate in CPR as needed
- Participate in Quality Assurance, QAPI, IDT committees, performance improvement projects, and continuing education
- Report errors, near misses, concerns, complaints, and improvement opportunities
- Develop or participate in in-service education and assist with staff orientation
- Maintain patient, employee, and company confidentiality
- Prepare daily dialysis logs, laboratory reports, supplies, and unit setups
- Maintain a clean environment, check and respond to company email, and follow company policies
- Perform other assigned duties
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent
- Current RN License for South Carolina
- Current CPR certification, or obtain within three months of hire
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English
- One year of Hemodialysis RN experience required
- Two to three years of experience preferred
- Experience must be within the past two years
- Strong technical/computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.
- Ability to work the full schedule, which may range from five to fifteen hours per day
- Ability to continually stand and frequently bend, walk, twist, crouch, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Comprehensive background check required after an offer
- Ability to work in an environment with possible exposure to chemicals and blood-borne pathogens
Demonstrates expertise in performing hemodialysis treatment procedures and providing specialized nursing care, with a strong focus on patient assessment, documentation, and communication within a healthcare team. Proficient in managing patient care plans, administering medications, and adhering to infection-control policies.
