Position: Inside Counter Sales Representative

Würth Wood Group – North Charleston, SC

Location: 4325 Lear Ave, North Charleston, SC 29418

Schedule
  • Onsite role only – this position is not remote or hybrid.
  • Work Hours:

    Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
Compensation
  • Base Pay: $19.00 to $20.00/hour
  • Commission:
    Gross pretax annual income including commission approximately $55,000 to $60,000.

Actual compensation will vary based on individual performance, experience, and other factors.

The Inside Counter Sales Representative works as an ambassador and is responsible for establishing and maintaining good relationships with customers based largely on the branch “walk-in” business. Conducts sales from inside the office via telephone calls, and other forms of digital communication, with both potential and existing customers. Must build trust and act as support for prospects, ensuring they lead to potential and future sales.

Responsible for offering the best possible customer experience as well as providing hands‑on explanations of any new or updated products when necessary. Excellent social skills allow the fostering of strong relationships.

The Inside Counter Sales Representative must maintain a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm, reflecting the organization's commitment to our customers. Develops product knowledge by reading current vendor tags and pamphlets and attending training classes to better communicate with the customer. The Inside Counter Sales Representative will also work with vendors and product specialists in your territory to provide value-added support to customers and to properly merchandise the branch store.

Stay current with promotional events, new products and promotional collateral.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct sales calls and communicate with customers
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers with inquiries and/or sales promptly, courteously, and promptly
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and repeat customers
  • Conduct sales transactions for walk‑in customers
  • Act as the point person for various branch initiatives and processes
  • Participate in properly merchandising the store by working with Sales Leadership
  • Educate customers on how products can benefit them financially
  • Develop the company’s store business by providing excellent customer service and product promotion
  • Follow‑up calls with customers regarding order status
  • Listen and understand customer needs and offer solutions
  • Communicate to customers about products’ different features and answer questions they may have
  • Cross‑sell or up‑sell products to customers to increase purchase volume
  • Respond courteously and swiftly to customer inquiries and/or complaints
  • Other duties as assigned
Education
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.

  • Sales/Customer Service experience
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self‑starter
  • Detail‑oriented
  • Excellent understanding of sales principles and customer service
  • Knowledge of customer and market dynamics
  • Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate with customers, peers, and colleagues
  • Ability to multi‑task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the team
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service

Reporting Structure Within The Organization
  • Reports to the General Manager
  • No supervisor responsibilities
Work Environment
  • Sales office / store in the local branch
Requirements
  • 2‑4 years of Inside Sales experience preferred.
  • Industry knowledge in woodworking/building materials is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle high‑volume customer interaction.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships and provide solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Team‑oriented, dependable, and customer‑focused.
