Security Officer - Armed High-Rise Patrol (Charleston, SC)As an Armed Patrol Officer at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence that helps to discourage security-related incidents. You will respond to incidents and alarms, control access as needed, and document observations with clear communication and professionalism. - Provide customer service to clients at a government location by following post orders, site‑specific policies, and/or emergency response activities while assigned to an armed patrol post.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, including initiating notifications, documenting actions taken, and coordinating with appropriate personnel.
- Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and/or identify security‑related concerns.
- Control access by verifying identification and/or authorization as required, monitoring entry points, and reporting irregularities according to site procedures.
- Complete accurate reports and logs, including patrol activity, incident documentation, and shift turnover communication, using required systems and/or forms.
- Have at least 1 year of armed security, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Have at least 2 years of law enforcement, military, and/or corrections experience.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Be comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry‑specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
