About The Role
Picture your day beginning with a safety check of your service vehicle, tools, and spare parts. You review your route, then head to a retail location to diagnose and repair an ice merchandiser. Later, you’ll perform a preventive maintenance visit, clean and inspect equipment at a plant/DC, and wrap up by installing a replacement unit at a customer site. Throughout the day, you communicate clearly with customers, log work via handheld, and share improvement ideas with your Field Equipment Service Manager.
Whatyou’ll do
- Repair and service ice merchandisers across customer locations, Reddy Ice plants, DCs, and refurbishment centers.
- Install, replace, and remove ice merchandisers as assigned.
- Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning to keep equipment reliable and presentable.
- Maintain your vehicle, tools, and parts inventory; request replenishment as needed.
- Attend company-sponsored technician trainings; continuously expand your trade skill set.
- Champion a Customer Centric Culture with respectful, consistent communication and outstanding service.
- Share SOP improvement opportunities and best practices with peers via meetings, calls, and video.
- Operate the company vehicle safely; arrive in uniform, on time, and follow all safety procedures.
- Participate in lean/continuous improvement activities (Kaizen, A3, value stream mapping) to enhance processes.
- Work collaboratively and assist teammates and leaders as needed while upholding our Code of Business Ethics and high safety standards.

You’ll actively use lean tools—VSM, Kaizen, and A3—to identify opportunities and drive value for customers, employees, and shareholders.
Essential Mental Functions And Skills- Read and interpret documents in English (safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedures).

- Gauge time and distance accurately; quickly store and recall instructions in short-term memory.

Qualifications- EPA Type I or Universal certification for refrigeration (required).
- High school diploma or Trade School Certificate in refrigeration, or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license (operator’s/Class
C) with acceptable MVR; ability to use a company vehicle. - Maintain 80%+ on internal Tech 1 training courses.
- Basic computer and handheld proficiency; follow reporting SOPs via handheld.
- Experience in refrigeration/HVAC/electrical or similar repair/installation is a plus (not required).
- Minimal travel; possible overnight. Weekend, night, and holiday shifts are required.
- Frequent driving between retail stores and plant locations.
- Lift up to 60 lbs; use installation lift equipment; climb ladders; operate power tools.
- Overtime may be required.
- Fast-paced, rapidly changing environment—manage stress, collaborate professionally, and solve complex problems.
