Job Description Overview

Abb Vie, a global, research-driven biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Director of AI Business Strategy & Implementation. This leadership role will drive the strategic vision and practical implementation of artificial intelligence solutions across Operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices. The Director of AI Business Strategy & Implementation leads the strategic application of artificial intelligence to optimize manufacturing processes, engineering solutions, and contracting operations s role defines and executes AI-driven strategies to enhance operational efficiency, innovation, cost-effectiveness, and quality across Operations, driving continuous improvement and digital transformation within the organization.

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-driven solutions to optimize practices across Operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Operations, IT, Quality, Compliance, and Data Science—to identify & execute high-impact AI initiatives.
• Lead a cross-functional team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement to execute high impact AI initiatives.
• Create and execute the AI strategy roadmap for Operations, adapting to evolving industry trends and Abb Vie priorities.
• Oversee AI project governance, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and compliant with applicable regulations (e.g., FDA, GxP).
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies, tools, and regulatory guidance relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturing and engineering.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders, representing Abb Vie at industry forums as needed.

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Engineering, Science, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• 10+ years of Biopharma Manufacturing/Engineering experience, including a strong track record in manufacturing, engineering, or highly regulated environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in AI strategy, deployment, and lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing, regulatory compliance (FDA, GxP), and digital transformation.
• Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project management abilities.

• The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
