Abb Vie’s Business Evolution Strategic Development (BESD) Team develops and executes forward‑looking strategic plans to ensure Abb Vie’s readiness for, and ability to successfully navigate, potential changes in the healthcare environment such as Most Favored Nations (MFN) and other price controls.

The Director, BESD will support the development and implementation of forward‑thinking business and policy strategies that not only navigate today’s policy and market landscape but also anticipate and adapt to future shifts. The Director’s innovative ideas and strategic insights will directly support the advancement of Abb Vie’s mission and goals, leading and/or supporting cross‑functional work streams to optimize the development of innovative and actionable strategies for Abb Vie in a changing external environment.

  Partner with critical stakeholders across Government Affairs, Market Access, Legal, Finance, and Corporate Affairs across geographies to ensure cohesive alignment toward enterprise goals, driving strategies forward to achieve targeted objectives and milestones.
• Environmental Analysis and Horizon Scanning: Monitor external political, regulatory, legislative, and market dynamics and develop impactful insight reports on evolving themes to foster innovative solutions and strategic decision making.
• Business Value Evaluation: Identify opportunities to deliver actionable recommendations that enhance competitiveness and business impact, supporting the building of compelling business cases to accelerate strategic solutions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Develop effective presentations that enable strategic communication of issues, pivotal updates, and business cases to cross‑functional leaders, maintaining productive relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and preparedness.

• Strategy: Utilize extensive policy and business experience to guide strategies and investments, leading with an enterprise‑wide perspective and aligning diverse interests.
• Execution: Deliver on initiatives with a sense of urgency and agility, pivoting as needed to account for shifting external and internal dynamics.

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Minimum of 6‑8 years of progressively responsible experience in government affairs, public policy, market access, or business strategy, with a pharma company, healthcare consulting firm, government agency, or think tank.
• Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in strategically and creatively shaping policy and business outcomes, with a keen understanding of what it takes to do so effectively.
