Overview
Position Title: Scientist I - Engineering/Process Development
Work Location: Sheridan Road, North Chicago, IL 60064
Assignment Duration: 12 months
Work Schedule: 100% Onsite
Position Summary- The team sits in the product development and science and technology division. The hiring manager leads the dermal filler lab at the North Chicago site.
- This is an entry-level lab scientist/engineer role in a company that makes dermal fillers.
- You'll mostly work in the lab, doing experiments, mixing materials, testing them, and recording results.
- The goal is to help develop new products and improve existing ones.
- You'll support the product life cycle, which means you're involved from the early testing stage to making sure the product is ready for market.
- This is a hands-on role, so you'll spend a lot of time with lab equipment and chemicals.
- You don't need super advanced skills, but curiosity and willingness to learn are important.
- In this role, you will play a vital role in supporting our team of seasoned scientists and engineers, contributing to lab-based projects that drive innovation and excellence within our organization.
- Our team is responsible for progressing the dermal filler product portfolio by designing and developing cutting edge products in our pipeline and optimizing existing commercial products, ensuring they meet both company and industry standards.
- Support products through the life cycle and work on process improvement.
- Work and optimize process development in dermal filler products.
- Provide reliable scientific data to improve the processes.
- Spend most of the day in the lab, setting up equipment, executing experiments, and extracting data.
- Participate in meaningful projects that have a tangible impact on our business and the broader market.
- Perform experiments and present work within internal team showcases.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related scientific field.
- Previous research and/or laboratory experience.
- Proficiency in equipment design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Exposure to process chemistry, modeling/simulation, and data analysis software.
- Hands-on lab activities experience.
- Prior experience with hydrogel or polymer and modifying equipment is a nice to have.
- Technical team and non-technical concepts knowledge.
- Mixing steps and gels categorization in rheology knowledge.
- Scientific and curious mindset.
