Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead capital engineering projects supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory operations. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing multiple projects involving process equipment installation, manufacturing system improvements, and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong process engineering knowledge, project management expertise, and experience working in regulated manufacturing environments. This position requires the ability to independently manage projects while collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning and execution of multiple capital engineering projects.
- Develop project scope, schedules, budgets, and execution strategies.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, quality, validation, and external vendors throughout project execution.
- Perform feasibility studies and evaluate engineering solutions.
- Develop and review P and , equipment specifications, and process documentation.
- Manage equipment procurement activities and contractor performance.
- Monitor project costs, schedules, scope, quality, and project risks.
- Support equipment commissioning, qualification, startup, and validation activities.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, safety requirements, environmental regulations, and engineering standards.
- Prepare project status updates and communicate progress to stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation of new manufacturing equipment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of project engineering or process engineering experience.
- Experience managing capital projects up to 5M.
- Experience with in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, specialty chemical, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Experience with reactors, tanks, pumps, process piping, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Experience developing and reviewing P and .
- Experience developing equipment specifications.
- Experience with project scope development, budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and cost control.
- Experience managing engineering design, procurement, installation, and construction activities.
- Knowledge of commissioning, qualification, and IQ OQ activities.
- Working knowledge of FDA cGMP, OSHA, environmental regulations, and applicable building and fire codes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent engineering projects.
- 10 or more years of engineering experience.
- Experience supporting biologics, API, or specialty chemical manufacturing.
- Experience developing User Requirement Specifications.
- Construction management experience.
- Experience supporting laboratory facility projects.
- Knowledge of process equipment sizing and selection.
- Experience with MS Project and ERP system.
- Experience with solvent tank farms or chemical storage systems.
