Position SummaryThe Department of Information Technology Services at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science invites applications for the full-time position of Senior Network Engineer. The primary duties and responsibilities of this position are designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks of the University to ensure maximum uptime for users. The role includes creating system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network solutions, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.
This position ensures the stable operation of the University's network environment. This position also analyzes and resolves end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and supports the organization's help desk function by providing 3rd tiered network support when required. This position will be expected to perform the routine daily functions associated with maintaining the university's wired and wireless data network(s) and acting as lead for Network Administrators.
Customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all types of customers are critical to the success of this position. Shared night and weekend on-call support will be expected.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide Level-3 support, monitoring and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.
- Design and Execute network configurations and upgrades, while following departmental production change control policies.
- Lead other Network Administrators by providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.
- Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures following cybersecurity principals.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and telephony problems.
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, access points, VPN, QoS).
- Assist with large scale build-outs from a networking perspective by installing and testing network equipment and verifying connectivity to the data network.
- Utilize software applications necessary to monitor network utilization, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention and IP filtering.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
- Maintain documentation of current network infrastructure.
- Keep abreast of the latest technologies and trends in networking, security, and cloud computing

- Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems or technology related field.
- Six years of experience in a position performing duties similar to those listed.
- Network security experience.
- At least six years of experience supporting and configuring Enterprise-level routers, firewalls, switches, and WiFi access points and controller systems.
- At least four years of working with log files to help troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
- At least four years of creating physical infrastructure system documentations.
