Responsibilities
- Lead, conduct, and communicate results of analytical studies that support command decision‑making and problem solving concerning current and future operations.
- Utilize highly technical, state‑of‑the‑art operations research and system analysis tools.
- Implement operations research methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the command.
- Advise the command on principles and best practices in military operations and system compatibility.
- Develop and apply policies, practices, procedures, and methods for operational assessment.
- Analyze, evaluate, and enhance work methods, processes, procedures, manpower utilization, data mapping, and management controls using mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques.
- Bachelor's degree in operations research or an equivalent combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, or related advanced courses. At least 24 semester hours in relevant courses, with a minimum of 3 semester hours in calculus.
- For GS‑12 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities (e.g., operations research, mathematics, statistics, logic). Transcripts must be submitted.
- At least one year of specialized experience directly related to conducting analytical studies, applying operational research, evaluating organizational effectiveness, or developing custom analysis tools in programming languages (e.g., Excel, Power BI, SQL). Experience may be combined with education to meet the required percentage as described in the federal requirements.
- Compliance with federal time‑in‑grade requirements (52 weeks of federal service at the next‑lower grade if previously employed within the last 52 weeks).
