As an Enterprise Platforms and Systems Solutions Architect in Abb Vie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you will have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better.

As an Application Architect within the Enterprise Platforms and Systems team, you will work across functions to ensure the Innovation, Architecture, and Infrastructure (IAI) organization has the technology to meet the needs of Abb Vie. You will work with manufacturing and finance teams, build plans defining our technology journey, and create architectural views that support organizational decision-making, design, and value delivery.

You will be a member of the Agile Architecture community within IAI, collaborating with architects to improve how we create value for Abb Vie.

• Developing and supporting in-depth technical expertise and direction on the architecture and technology needs of the platforms and applications within the IAI ecosystem.
• Supporting the development of digital capabilities across the BTS Innovation, Architecture, and Infrastructure organization.
• Partnering with various business stakeholders, technology leads, architects, engineers, and partners.
• Operating as the subject matter expert in application design, software development, and application architecture.
• Enforcing and advocating secure, safe, and compliant architecture and technology solutions.

• Architecture modeling and software design using Archimate, UML, BPMN, or similar modeling languages.
• Experience using agentic frameworks and tooling including Claude, Codex, and Open Code.
• Architecting and designing solutions in a hybrid environment, on-premise and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Designing enterprise integration solutions.
• Partnering and collaborating to build understanding, trust, and influence.
• Leveraging software development and delivery skills in cross‑functional teams.
• Practicing agile and continuous improvement.
• Software engineering using CI/CD tooling.

• Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of experience, Master’s degree with 6 years of experience, or PhD with 2 years of experience in application program development.
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex applications in a cloud native or hybrid environment.
• Proven implementation of creative technology solutions that advanced the business.
• Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
• Coaching and mentoring IT resources to ensure effective and sustainable application designs.
• Ability to travel globally.
