Job DescriptionThe Scientist III will be an integral part of the Quantitative, Translational & ADME Sciences group, focusing on non‑regulated quantitative LC MS/MS bioanalysis of small molecule compounds from various biological samples. This hands‑on role involves working with mass spectrometry, specifically using AB Sciex triple‑quadrupole instrumentation and Analyst software. The scientist will execute methods, review data, and analyze samples, collaborating closely with discovery and DMPK teams.
Responsibilities- Perform high‑throughput quantitative LC MS/MS analysis of small molecules and occasionally peptides from various biological matrices.
- Review and assess LC MS data to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Execute established in vitro bioanalysis workflows with minor method development.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot AB Sciex triple‑quad LC MS/MS systems, HPLCs, and autosamplers.
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in LIMS, method files, and study records.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners in Discovery and other departments to support project needs.
- Design, execute, and interpret bioanalytical experiments independently.
- Extensive experience in quantitative LC MS/MS, especially with triple‑quadrupole systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of small molecule bioanalysis in biological matrices.
- Proficiency with AB Sciex instruments and Analyst software.
- Experience working with various biological matrices such as plasma, tissues, and microsomes.
- Excellent data interpretation, documentation, and communication skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with reverse phase chromatography method development is a plus.
- Knowledge of peptide and protein bioanalysis is advantageous.
- Familiarity with ADME principles, which can be learned on the job.
- Experience in regulated bioanalysis or CRO environments is preferred.
- Education requirements:
BS with 8+ years, MS with 6+ years, or PhD with relevant experience in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related fields.
The role is based 100% onsite at Abbott Park, working Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. It is a contract position for 6 months with potential extensions up to 2 years. The Scientist III will work independently within a collaborative team focused on mass spectrometry.
Job Type & LocationContract position based out of North Chicago, IL.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 – $55.00 /hr.
