Job Description

For the Senior Scientist I position, we are seeking a highly motivated candidate who can conceive, implement and execute novel scientific research and development, independently develop, optimize new methods and techniques to generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner and demonstrate broad versatile technical expertise. The role supports early phase development of New Chemical Entities (NCEs), particularly synthetic peptides, in the preclinical- and clinical-development space and collaborates within the global Analytical R&D organization and with R&D cross‑functional partners such as Pre‑Clinical Safety (PCS), Process Chemistry, Process Engineering, Drug Product Development (DPD), Quality Assurance (QA), and CMC‑Regulatory Affairs.

Experience with peptide development is required and chromatographic analysis (such as HPLC or GC) and Mass Spectrometry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Efficiently lead and support new peptide product development from an analytical perspective, working with cross‑functional areas to advance projects through the development pipeline.
  • Support new peptide product development with advanced analytics to drive the pipeline and impactful research initiatives.
  • Utilize a range of analytical techniques to conduct research and development studies related to synthetic‑molecule drug substances, impurities, and impurity profiling.
  • Operate autonomously and productively in laboratory research and/or method development, requiring minimal direction from a supervisor.
  • Initiate new areas of investigation that are scientifically meaningful, reliable, and can be incorporated directly into a research or development program.
  • Formulate conclusions and design follow‑on experiments based on multidisciplinary data.
  • Process, interpret, and visualize data to facilitate project team decisions.
  • Demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in research or development activities and maintain a high level of productivity in the lab.
  • Develop methods, test procedures, and implement analytical control strategies to advance drug discovery candidates.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Chemistry (Analytical/Organic/Medicinal) or Pharmaceutical Sciences, with minimum 10 (BS), 8 (MS), or 0–2 (Ph.D.) years of related industry experience.
  • Strong technical background in peptide development with excellent analytical problem‑solving skills, capable of independently developing and troubleshooting analytical methods.
  • Demonstrated experience with HPLC analysis and method development, and fundamental understanding of spectroscopic techniques as they relate to peptide development and small molecules.
  • Comfortable discussing organic chemistry topics within analytical R&D and with partner functions; hands‑on experience with synthetic organic chemistry preferred.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to work in a fast‑paced team environment.
  • Experience with computerized data handling systems.
  • High‑quality written and oral communication skills and ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.
  • Practical knowledge of organic structure, functional groups, chemistry, and modern spectroscopic techniques applied to small‑molecule analytical analysis.
  • Builds strong relationships with peers and cross‑functionally with partners outside the team to enable higher performance.
  • Adapts quickly to changing requirements and fosters an open, collaborative learning environment.
