Job Description

For the Senior Scientist I position, we are seeking a highly motivated candidate who can conceive, implement, and execute novel scientific research and development, independently develop, optimize new methods and techniques to generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner, and demonstrate broad versatile technical expertise. The scientist will support early‑phase development of New Chemical Entities (NCEs), particularly synthetic peptides, in both preclinical and clinical development, and collaborate within the global Analytical R&D organization and with R&D cross‑functional partners such as Pre‑Clinical Safety (PCS), Process Chemistry, Process Engineering, Drug Product Development (DPD), Quality Assurance (QA), and CMC‑Regulatory Affairs.

Experience with peptide development is required, and chromatographic analysis (e.g., HPLC or GC) and Mass Spectrometry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support new peptide product development from an analytical perspective, working with cross‑functional areas to advance projects through the development pipeline.
  • Use advanced analytics to drive the pipeline and impactful research initiatives.
  • Apply a range of analytical techniques to conduct research and development studies related to synthetic‑molecule drug substances, impurities, and impurity profiling.
  • Work autonomously and productively in laboratory research and/or method development, requiring only minimal direction.
  • Initiate new areas of investigation that are scientifically meaningful, reliable, and can be incorporated into a research or development program.
  • Formulate conclusions and design follow‑on experiments based on multidisciplinary data.
  • Process, interpret, and visualize data to facilitate project team decisions.
  • Demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in research or development activities, maintaining a high level of productivity in the lab.
  • Develop and implement analytical control strategies to aid the advancement of drug discovery candidates.
  • Continuously improve processes and challenge the status quo.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Chemistry (Analytical/Organic/Medicinal) or Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a minimum of 10 (BS), 8 (MS), or 0–2 (Ph.D.) years of related industry experience.
  • Strong technical background in peptide development with excellent analytical problem‑solving skills, capable of independently developing and troubleshooting analytical methods.
  • Preferred experience with HPLC analysis and method development, along with expertise in spectroscopic techniques related to peptide development and small molecules.
  • Comfortable discussing organic chemistry topics within analytical R&D and with partner functions; hands‑on experience with synthetic organic chemistry preferred.
  • Self‑motivated, hard‑working, detail‑oriented, and able to work in a fast‑paced team environment.
  • Experience with computerized data handling systems.
  • High‑quality written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.
  • Practical knowledge of organic structure, functional groups, chemistry, and modern spectroscopic techniques as applied to small‑molecule analytical analysis.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with peers and cross‑functionally with partners outside the team to enable higher performance.
  • Fast learner who grasps the essence and can change direction quickly when indicated.
  • Creates a learning environment, open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement.
  • Embraces ideas of others, nurtures innovation, and manages innovation to reality.
