Job Description

For the Senior Scientist I/II position, we are seeking a highly motivated candidate who can conceive, implement and execute novel scientific research and development, independently develop and optimize new methods and techniques to generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner and demonstrate broad versatile technical expertise. The role supports early‑phase development of new synthetic molecules, particularly newly emerging modalities such as peptides, siRNA, conjugatable payloads for antibody‑drug conjugates and small molecules, across both pre‑clinical and clinical development.

The individual will serve as an Analytical Research and Development representative in a highly cross‑functional team that includes Discovery, Process Chemistry, Quantitative and Translational ADME Sciences (QTAS), Safety Pharmacology, Pre‑Clinical Safety (PCS), and Molecular Profiling and Drug Delivery (MPDD). Candidates should be comfortable discussing organic chemistry topics relevant to analytical chemistry, such as stereo isomers, common functional groups, and pKa values.

Experience with chromatographic analysis (HPLC or GC) and mass spectrometry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support new synthetic modality product development from an analytical perspective, collaborating with cross‑functional areas to advance projects through the development pipeline.
  • Support new synthetic modality product development with advanced analytics to drive the pipeline and impactful research initiatives.
  • Utilize a range of analytical techniques to conduct research and development studies related to synthetic‑molecule drug substances, impurities, and impurity profiling.
  • Work autonomously in laboratory research and/or method development, requiring minimal direction from a supervisor.
  • Initiate new areas of investigation that are scientifically meaningful, reliable, and can be incorporated directly into a research or development program.
  • Formulate conclusions and design follow‑on experiments based on multidisciplinary data.
  • Process, interpret, and visualize data to facilitate project team decisions.
  • Demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in research or development activities while maintaining a high level of productivity in the lab.
  • Develop and implement analytical control strategies to advance drug discovery candidates.
  • Raise the bar and remain unsatisfied with the status quo.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Chemistry (Analytical, Organic, or Medicinal) or Pharmaceutical Sciences, typically with minimum 10+ (BS), 8+ (MS), or 0+ (Ph.D.) years of related industry experience.
  • Strong technical background in synthetic molecule development with excellent analytical problem‑solving skills and the ability to independently develop and troubleshoot analytical methods.
  • Demonstrated experience with HPLC analysis and method development; expertise in spectroscopic techniques as they relate to synthetic molecule development is preferred.
  • Comfortable discussing organic chemistry topics within analytical R&D and with partner functions; hands‑on experience with synthetic organic chemistry is preferred.
  • Self‑motivated, hard‑working, detail‑oriented individual able to work in a fast‑paced team environment.
  • Experience in the use of computerized data handling systems.
  • High‑quality written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.
  • Practical knowledge of organic structure, functional groups, chemistry, and modern spectroscopic techniques as applied to small‑molecule analytical analysis.
  • Builds strong relationships with peers and partners outside of the team to enable higher performance.
