A part time data science position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Nicole Ferrara in the Center for Neurobiology of Stress Resilience and Psychiatric Disorders, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. The focus of the lab is social fear memory with particular emphasis on interactions between the environment, fear, and social behaviors and how they impact neural circuits during development.

This position is expected to last 3 months to a year, depending on the candidate’s availability and the needs of the lab. We anticipate this position to work 20 to 30hrs per week.

The Ferrara lab records neural activity in vivo via fiber photometry and syncs brain recordings to behavior. We are looking for candidates who can establish a strong fiber photometry-behavior analysis pipeline and train lab members to implement.

Part-time staff who work at least 18.5 hours a week are eligible for up to 15 prorated days of vacation / personal leave, 15 pro-rated sick days, and 9 holidays (if regularly scheduled to work on a University holiday), winter break, plus 2 floating holidays.

• Establishing a pipeline for fiber photometry and behavior analysis.
• Presenting new findings and techniques at weekly lab meetings.
• Training lab members on fiber photometry and behavioral analysis, data visualization, and data interpretation.

• Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check.

• Candidates must have a PhD with a strong background in neuroscience.

• Extensive experience with one or more programming languages (i.e., Mat Lab, R, etc.).
• Experience with behavioral modeling (i.e., Deep Lab Cut , SLEAP, etc.).
• Experience with training and teaching.

• Evidence of scholarly productivity through presentations and publications.

• Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
