Wild & Weiss Law Offices, PC is seeking a dependable, detail‑oriented Legal Clerk to join our small firm. This is an entry‑level role; the firm will provide on‑the‑job training. The Legal Clerk will support attorneys and paraprofessional staff with administrative and drafting tasks to help manage caseloads and client service.
Key responsibilities- Perform general office duties: answer phones, greet clients, manage mail, draft document, manage deadlines on calander, and schedule appointments.
- Client intake and communication: take basic client information, review client inquiries, prepare new client files, and maintain professional client contact.
- Document preparation: draft and format routine correspondence, letters, envelopes, labels, and standardized forms using firm templates.
- File management: open, close, index, organize, scan, and maintain physical and electronic client files and case documents.
- Data entry and case tracking: enter client/matter information into case management system, update calendars and deadlines, and assist with docketing.
- Assist with pleadings and filings, prepare exhibits, assemble court packets, print and collate documents, and assist with service of process and e‑filing under attorney/paralegal direction.
- Record retrieval and research assistance: retrieve records (medical, employment, property), obtain public records, and perform basic legal research or background checks as instructed.
- Billing and administrative support: prepare time entries, assist with invoicing, process payments, and track case expenses.
- Maintain deadlines and calendars: monitor court dates, and internal deadlines; notify supervising attorney of upcoming key dates.
- Quality control and proofreading: proofread documents for grammar, formatting, and completeness prior to review by attorney or paralegal.
- Other tasks as assigned to support efficient firm operations.
Comprehensive on‑the‑job training provided, including firm procedures, case management systems, North Dakota court filing processes, confidentiality and ethics, and basic legal document preparation.
Required qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable learning case management/e‑filing software.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Professional demeanor, ability to maintain confidentiality, and strong client service orientation.
- Reliable, and able to work in a small‑office team environment.
- Previous clerical or office experience.
- Familiarity with legal terminology.
- Experience with document scanning and electronic filing systems.
Full‑time or Part‑time (typical business hours); some flexibility may be required for filing deadlines.
- Compensation commensurate with experience; benefits discussed during interview.
