The Medical/Clinical Assistant Instructor delivers high-quality instruction in Medical/Clinical courses. Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and full course management in Canvas. The instructor prepares students for careers as a certified nurse’s assistant and certified medical assistant through classroom instruction, hands‑on labs, and scenario‑based training. The instructor fosters a respectful, culturally relevant learning environment and supports Turtle Mountain College’s mission by integrating Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa (TMBC) values throughout the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Learning- Teach allied health courses that provide students with the skills and knowledge to become certified as a CNA, CMA and AAMA CMA (AAMA Certified Medical Assistant).
- Supervise students in completing labs and clinicals.
- Use scenario‑based training to simulate real‑world health care settings.
- Prepare course materials, assessments, and maintain accurate records in Canvas.
- Provide timely feedback and support student professionalism, learning, and retention.
- Develop and update curriculum based on current policies and clinical standards.
- Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to ensure program relevance.
- Create performance‑based assessments and integrate ethics, employability skills, cultural awareness, and trauma‑informed practices.
- Integrate the culture and values of the TMBC into the curriculum in ways that support and reflect tribal higher education.
- Build and maintain complete Canvas course shells with modules, assignments, assessments, and instructional content.
- Ensure accessibility, monitor engagement, and provide timely support through Canvas tools.
- Develop and assess student learning outcomes.
- Report assessment results, evaluate performance through multiple methods, and provide academic support.
- Participate in program assessment, accreditation, recruitment, and retention efforts.
- Support student organizations, community outreach, and partnerships with tribal and law enforcement agencies.
- Participate in college events, professional development, and committees.
- Maintain professional credentials and stay current in public‑safety practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and contribute to public‑safety education through writing, presentations, conferences, or proposals.
- Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a current ND license.
- A minimum of two years of full‑time nursing experience with at least one year of nursing experience in a long‑term care facility.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with a commitment to student success.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues and health care affiliates.
- Ability to travel, work flexible hours, and teach at various sites as needed.
- Commitment to the mission, culture, and values of Turtle Mountain College and tribal higher education.
- Teaching or training experience preferred.
