Overview

This position is part of the Dunseith Day School, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Teacher (Elementary) you will be responsible for serving as a classroom teacher in a BIE school on or near the Reservation. This position requires SCHOOL YEAR CONTRACT per Public Law 95-561 and will require contract renewal on an annual basis. This position IS NOT suitable for telework or remote consideration under any circumstances.

Salary: $35.33 to $70.11 per hour

PH modified based on School calendar and location.

Responsibilities
  • As Teacher (Elementary) CY-1710, provide instruction at the professional level as a classroom teacher, team teacher, or remedial or special services teacher according to the setting and organizational structure of the school.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional activities under stated guidelines.
  • Prepare yearly instructional outlines and related daily lesson plans covering relevant units of study, specifying objectives, activities, and evaluative methods/instruments for group and individual programs.
  • Teach students by selecting, developing, adapting, and implementing instructional methods and techniques utilizing available resources to support academic achievement.
  • Provide learning experiences in assigned subject areas to develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills appropriate to student needs and interests.
  • Continuously evaluate individual and group academic progress using criterion-referenced tests, periodic standardized tests, oral tests, and other relevant evaluation methods; use alternative instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Communicate progress with parents and maintain required records in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Maintain classroom control and discipline, consulting with parents and other individuals as needed; counsel individual students within established guidelines using background information about each student.
Qualifications
  • Basic Education & Licensure:
    Possess a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited education institution. All professional educators must possess a valid Teacher certification/licensure in the appropriate endorsement area. Emergency and provisional certificates may be accepted under conditions issued by the State certification authority.
  • Education:

    Legible copies of transcripts required; official transcripts are REQUIRED UPON SELECTION. Education must be from an accredited or pre-accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Foreign

    Education:

    If using foreign education, show credentials have been evaluated by a private organization for equivalence to U.S. education or provide full credit in a U.S. accredited institution.
  • Applicants may be eligible if certified in a state other than where the position is located; if selected, a provisional contract may be issued to obtain full state certification within two full contract terms.
  • Experience and pay considerations:
    Pay levels depend on degree and 24 hours in education; pay is set after the selection process with various pay level requirements.
Additional Information
  • Per Hour rate is modified from the Pay Table based on the school calendar location (MHR/MDR) and is not negotiable.
  • U.S. government benefits apply; a comprehensive benefits package is offered.
  • Bargaining Unit Status:
    Position is covered by a union; this position is EXEMPT from the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Direct Deposit of pay is required. Travel and relocation expenses are not paid. Recruitment incentive is not offered.
