SALARY: Base salary starting at $40,300 (with master's: $44,850)
BENEFITS: Full single health insurance, FULL (both sides) TFFR Retirement, 10 sick days, 3 personal days
GRADES: We are seeking a Special Education teacher for grades PK-6.
SUMMARY:
Our elementary team in Abercrombie is seeking a dedicated educator who is responsible for planning instruction and/or adaptation of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences. This individual will be a team player who cares about children's academic success and personal development.
Richland #44 School District is a Class B school district of about 300 students with two school buildings (PK-6 in Abercrombie and 7-12 in Colfax). We are idyllically located about halfway between Fargo and Wahpeton, giving families and staff the best of both worlds with a small-town feel close to larger areas. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Instructs individuals and groups in specific education skill areas.
- Plans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
- Oversee and create paraprofessional schedules, teaching materials, and assignments.
- Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observation.
- Monitors students' progress in and outside special education room.
- Maintains physical environment of the classroom.
- Maintains contact with parents of students.
- Evaluates student progress based on work output and observation, determines goals, objectives and directions.
- Prepares report cards, educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
- Consults with regular classroom teachers re: curriculum and test modifications and individual evaluation of student performance.
- Assesses student achievement and ability with regard to eligibility for special service programs

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Teaching certificate with special education endorsements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of mathematics as it applied to testing situations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
