Job Summary / Objective

The Student Life Coordinator serves as a member of the Student Life team, supporting the co-curricular experience of Sweet Briar students through programming, student outreach, and leadership development. This is a live-on, essential personnel position, with some evening and weekend work to be expected.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Facilitate regular student life programming efforts to include, but not limited to:
    Weeks of Welcome, the Founders’ Day Dance, wellness programming, and off-campus opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and event planning support to registered student clubs and organizations, including hazing prevention education and compliance.
  • Directly supervise 6-8 Resident Advisors (RAs).
  • Participate in regular Professional Staff On-Call rotation, providing after-hours support to students, in partnership with RA’s and Campus Safety.
  • When needed, will serve as essential reporting personnel in response to campus crisis or emergency.
  • Serve as an active participant in Residence Life functions including, but not limited to: recruitment, selection, and training of RA’s and residence hall operations such as submitting maintenance requests, conducting emergency drills, and preparing for break closings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range for this position is $39,000.00- $44,000.00.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited institution.
  • Previous campus involvement and leadership in student clubs and organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and respond to priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in various forms.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Familiarity with Google Calendar, Google Drive, and basic social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Student Affairs, Higher Education or another appropriate field.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience working in a college or university setting.
  • Familiarity with Canvas and Canva platforms.
  • Previous experience in facilitation, event and program planning.
