MEP/CX- PROJECT ENGINEER
The primary role of the MEP Project Engineer is to provide technical and project coordination support for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and specialty building systems throughout all phases of construction. Working under the direction of the MEP Project Manager, this position supports project planning, design coordination, procurement, field execution, commissioning, and project closeout activities to help ensure successful project delivery.
The MEP Project Engineer serves as an integral member of the project team by coordinating information between owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel. This role develops technical knowledge of engineered building systems while contributing to safe, high-quality, and profitable project execution.
The MEP Project Engineer is expected to demonstrate initiative, continuously expand technical knowledge, communicate effectively with multiple levels of the organization, and build strong relationships with project stakeholders while supporting McGough's commitment to operational excellence and exceptional customer service.
Qualifications Required- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0–3 years of experience in commercial construction, engineering, facility operations, or related industry.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building controls systems.
- Internship or co-op experience supporting commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, REVIT, or AutoCAD.
- Exposure to BIM coordination.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Experience supporting healthcare, advanced manufacturing, mission critical, industrial, or commercial construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

- Travel requirements will vary depending on project assignment and may include overnight travel.
- Ability to work from both office and construction site environments.
- This is a traveling position and may support multiple locations or project sites as assigned.
Pre-Construction Phase Technical Expertise
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to become familiar with project scope and owner requirements.
- Check A/E documents for compliance with owner requirements, applicable codes, constructability, industry standard practice, and optimization.
- Participate in design review meetings and page turns with clients and the A/E team.
- Assist with constructability reviews and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Assist the A/E and subcontractors to identify value engineering and cost reduction opportunities.
- Assist in identifying scope gaps and coordination conflicts.
- Support development of bid packages, bid instructions, and subcontractor scope documents to avoid gaps in subcontractor scopes.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs and estimating activities as assigned.
