Position SummaryThe Environmental Compliance & Safety Technician is responsible for supporting environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs within a data center environment as an owner representative to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, permit requirements, and company standards. This role focuses on environmental compliance, occupational safety, regulatory reporting, hazardous materials management, risk reduction, and operational support to maintain a safe, compliant, and reliable mission-critical facility.
This position reports directly to the Sr. EH&S Manager for the campus.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with applicable air permits, Title V requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and associated monitoring equipment.
- Track emissions from emergency generators, fuel systems, boilers, and other permitted equipment.
- Collect and analyze operational data, including fuel consumption and equipment runtimes, to verify permit compliance.
- Support emissions testing activities and coordinate with third-party environmental consultants as required.
- Support implementation and maintenance of the facility SPCC Plan.
- Conduct required inspections of oil-filled equipment, fuel systems, storage tanks, and secondary containment structures.
- Ensure environmental inspections, training, and compliance activities are performed and documented.
- Assist in spill response, investigation, corrective action development, and reporting activities.
- Manage site water intake, discharge, stormwater, and wastewater compliance programs.
- Conduct inspections, sampling, and monitoring activities to verify compliance with permit conditions.
- Collect water samples and coordinate laboratory analysis.
- Monitor environmental indicators, including pH, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), flow rates, and permit-specific parameters.
- Administer site solid waste, recycling, universal waste, and hazardous waste programs.
- Ensure proper waste segregation, labeling, storage, transportation, and disposal.
- Maintain manifests, disposal records, and regulatory documentation.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste generation and improve recycling performance.
- Maintain inventories of hazardous materials, fuels, chemicals, and regulated substances.
- Ensure materials are stored, handled, and disposed of in accordance with regulatory requirements and company procedures.
