Overview

Job Title: Pharmacist

Department: Pharmacy

Reports To: Pharmacy Director

Position Summary:

To support daily pharmacy operations, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant medication use for inpatient and outpatient services. This role works collaboratively with the pharmacy department, nursing staff, providers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care while meeting regulatory and clinical standards.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Educational Requirements:
    • Pharm

      D or Bachelor s degree in Pharmacy
    • Valid ND Pharmacist License
    • Must be at least 16 years of age
    • Must be able to speak and understand English
  • Experience Requirements:
    • Proven experience as a pharmacist
    • Comprehensive understanding of medication dosing principles, routes of administration, pharmacologic properties, and clinical application in patient care
  • Special Skills or Training:
    • Positive attitude toward the elderly and coworkers
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Lifting: up to 50 pounds
    • Standing: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
    • Walking: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
    • Reaching: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
    • Bending: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
    • Grasping: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
    • Hand Coordination: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
    • Pushing & Pulling: 4 or more hours per shift
    • Ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures
    • Ability to remain calm under stress
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review, verify, and dispense medications in accordance with physician orders, hospital policies, and state and federal regulations
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy review, dosing recommendations, and drug information support
  • Monitor patient medication profiles for appropriateness, interactions, allergies, and contraindications
  • Support medication reconciliation processes and participate in patient counseling as appropriate
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and monitoring medication supplies
  • Ensure compliance with USP, CMS, CAH, and state Board of Pharmacy requirements
  • Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to support safe medication administration practices
  • Participate in quality improvement, medication safety initiatives, and performance improvement activities
  • Provide pharmacist coverage as scheduled, including occasional on-call or weekend coverage as needed
  • Support the Pharmacy Director with operational tasks as assigned
