Position Summary
Responsible to coordinate activities at the Nurses Station, including receptionist, general clerical and information management duties with computer skills. Provide direct patient care, both medical and non‑medical. Cares are directed and supervised by the RN or LPN. Assures the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
Excellence in Practice- Time management: completes assignments and assists others willingly; answers call lights; greets and directs patients, visitors and hospital personnel in a friendly and courteous manner, assists in room preparation, admissions and discharges.
- Assists patients with activities and meal‑time set up, ambulation, transfers, positioning, and dressing. Attends to physical and emotional needs.
- Computer skills: admits patients, accesses charts, uses order entry for physician orders, manages specimen collections, handles equipment repairs and dietary needs.
- Performs duties independently with little or no supervision.
- Good technical skills: vital signs, specimen collection, weights, isolation, hot/cold packs; cooperates in unit cleaning, maintenance, restocking, diet kitchen, utility room, patient rooms and equipment; proficient with phone, pager and alarm systems.
- Prioritizes and multitasks—separates emergency orders from routine workflow, adapts to changing workloads while remaining calm, and follows stat orders.
- Treats patients with dignity and respect, ensuring privacy in all cares.
- Completes assignments, manages time effectively, assists others willingly, answers call lights promptly, and makes hourly rounds.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living: meal‑time set up and feeding, toileting, ambulation, transfers, positioning, dressing, AM & PM cares—bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, skin and nail care. Attends to physical, spiritual and emotional needs.
- Accurately documents care provided: activity, meals, I & O, vital signs, weights, swing bed activities and ADL assessments.
- Assists with admissions and discharges—room preparation.
- Cooperates with unit cleaning, maintenance and restocking: diet kitchen, utility room, report room, patient rooms, supply room, med carts, IV trays, equipment.
- Good technical skills: vital signs, I & O, specimen collection, WBG, weights, isolation, hot and cold pads, and SCDs.
- Respectfully takes direction from medical professionals and reports changes in patient condition promptly.
- Assists in maintaining equipment and reports any faulty or unsafe equipment.
- Collects, compiles and organizes data for statistics as designated.
Job Requirements
- Education:
High School Graduate (not required but preferred).
