Cooperative Student - Welder

Employee Type: Intern (Trainee)

This program requires students currently pursuing an associate or technical welding degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the co‑op experience. This program is not designed for graduates. Work will be performed at a surface lignite coal mine.

• Perform welding repairs and fabrication on mining equipment
• Read and understand blueprints to assemble and fabricate parts from them
• Locate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members
• Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations
• Other duties as assigned

• Strong work ethic with effective communication skills and a creative and innovative attitude
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision
• Working knowledge of all phases of welding and cutting of metals and understanding metal properties
• Ability to read blueprints with knowledge of rigging procedures
• Valid Driver's license
• Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts
