Make an Impact in East Manchester:
Volunteer to Help Shape Our New Football-Focused CIC
Can you spare an hour a week to help us use football to combat loneliness in the local community ?
Our group was founded in Tameside, Greater Manchester to provide more opportunities for people of any skill level to play football in a welcoming environment without pressure, judgement or prior connections. Originally starting as a small group of players, we have grown through word of mouth to become a supportive space. Whether you're a football pro or have never kicked a ball, feeling confident or struggling a bit, you're welcome.
We're proud of the feedback we've received from players who say our group has made a real difference in their lives.
Building on the success and positive impact of this group, we formed the The
Open Football Initiative Community Interest Company (CIC) in East Manchester in 2025. Our core mission remains the same: to combat loneliness in the community and promote inclusion and well-being, through football.
As we expand, we are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to contribute to our growth. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about community development to get involved and apply (or develop) their skills in areas such as:
- Social Media Management: Crafting engaging content and managing our online presence to expand our reach.
- Night Volunteer lead: Assisting with the organisation with the running of sessions.
This is a fantastic chance to help shape a new organisation dedicated to positive local impact.
No prior experience is necessary for any of these roles. If you have enthusiasm and a desire to help our community thrive, that's all that matters. The anticipated time commitment is approximately one hour per week , offering a flexible way to make a significant impact.
