Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients.
  • Supervise day‑to‑day activities of CNAs, NAs, and LPNs in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Participate in admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients.
  • Observe patients for changes in status, notify physicians and family, and document accordingly.
  • Observe physician orders, enter them into the EHR, and carry them out.
  • Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered, monitoring patients for adverse effects.
  • Initiate, review, and update care plans as required.
  • Conduct rounds to confirm patient needs are met and staff duties performed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Respond to emergency situations per facility policies.
  • Maintain adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment; notify appropriate personnel of needs.
  • Promote teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
  • Participate in inspection surveys and hospital‑wide committees as needed.
  • Assist with orientation of new employees.
  • Complete all assigned training and skill competencies.
  • Cross‑train to both ER and Med‑Surg floors.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all equipment used in patient treatment.
  • Perform other duties within the RN scope of practice.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically demanding and high‑stress environment.
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions.
  • Pushing and pulling heavy objects.
  • Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients.
  • Manual and finger dexterity; hand and eye coordination.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Working irregular hours, including after hours.
  • Ability to assist in evacuation during emergency situations.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting, and other common movements.
Required

  • Effective communication with medical, nursing, and other departments.

  • Pass background check and drug screening.
Education and Experience
  • Prior experience on a medical/surgical floor and/or ER preferred but not required.
  • Previous EHR experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current unrestricted RN license in North Dakota or compact license in home state.
  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, or graduate of an approved RN program.
  • Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • ACLS, PALS, BLS, and NIHSS required; TNCC certification preferred, with willingness to obtain post‑hire.
