Position Type
Full‑Time (36‑40 hours/week), Non‑exempt
QUALIFICATIONS- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing with the State of North Dakota.
- Current BLS certification.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must have driver’s license.
- Must be able to drive company vehicles to transport residents as needed.
- No disciplinary action in effect against certification.
- Provides supportive services to nurse(s) and other staff as needed and performs duties as assigned.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living in accordance with care plans and established policies.
- Assists with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents between beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
- Coordinates dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including set‑up, clean‑up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
- Delivers nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provides assistance as necessary to ensure intake.
- Weighs residents according to facility policy and records weight in designated locations, reporting weight changes to nurse and DON.
- Tracks the condition of the resident’s skin, reporting any pressure areas, skin breakdown or skin tears to nurse and supervisor.
- Assists with toileting program activities.
- Completes flow sheets daily to indicate that the specified task was done and documents the progress of each resident as directed by DON.
- Keeps nurse and DON informed of factors that interfere with performing the work, such as resident refusal or re‑assignment.
- Reports changes in a resident’s condition to nurse and supervisor.
- Follows infection control practices, Universal Precautions, OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Standard, and compliance with established policies.
- May drive company vehicles to transport residents to appointments as needed.
- Attends department and in‑service meetings.
- Performs all duties requested by the DON and/or CEO/Administrator.
- Treats all residents with dignity and respect, promoting and protecting residents’ rights.
- Adheres to all facility policies and procedures, and complies with state/federal regulations.
- Maintains safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents and the staff.
- Maintains confidentiality of protected health information.
- Reports non‑compliance, breaches in confidentiality, or incidents of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment to appropriate personnel and protects residents from abuse.
- Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals according to facility policy.
- Participates in life safety and emergency drills and training, fulfilling responsibilities during activation of emergency plans.
- Reports work‑related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
- Completes all assigned training and skills competency.
- Attends care‑plan meetings of assigned residents.
- Participates in QAQI or facility assessment activities as needed.
- Accepts CNA assignments as staffing needs require and performs CNA duties in accordance with facility policies.
- Uses proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care.

- Can follow oral and written instructions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and exercise judgment.
- Can relay information concerning a resident’s condition.
- Strong listening skills and ability to handle conflict professionally.
- A supportive team member, contributing to teamwork.
- Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
- Operates independently, organizes, plans, and manages time effectively.
- Deals tactfully with personnel, residents, family, staff.
- Patient, tactful, to deal with difficult residents.
- Does not pose a threat to others’ health and safety.
- Can move intermittently throughout the workday and maintain good balance, stand for prolonged periods, and have hand/finger dexterity for resident care and CPR.
- Can walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, and press up to 50 pounds.
- Can respond quickly to unexpected resident safety needs.
- Meets general health requirements per facility policy (medical exams, immunity status).
- Able to work beyond normal hours and on weekends/holidays when necessary.
- Assists in evacuation during emergencies.
- May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, chemicals, odors, and hostile residents.
- Intermediate computer skills for records and electronic medical records.
