Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles relevant to the clinical setting and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise. They utilize age and population–specific standards to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents as outlined in each care plan.
The LPN performs testing to assess resident status, recognizes problems, recommends solutions, and responds effectively in emergent situations. They ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents, contribute to resident assessment, administer medications or treatments as ordered, and provide technical support to health‑care professionals. The LPN documents resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and diet. They establish effective working relationships with residents, health‑care providers, and the public, communicate clearly, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
The LPN counsels residents, family members, and residents’ advocates, under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, on prevention and treatment plans and develops self‑care programs. Additional duties are performed as assigned.
Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program or hold a licensed practical nurse (LPN) credential. An associate degree in practical nursing is preferred. For roles requiring IV therapy/management, a graduate of a board‑approved AASPN program with IV therapy in the curriculum or completion of a state‑approved IV therapy course is required in North Dakota. Candidates must have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or have at least 400 hours of LPN experience at another facility.
Current licensure as an unencumbered LPN with state or multi‑state privileges is required. Candidates must obtain and maintain departmental competencies, certifications, continuing education units, and yearly competency training.
Position type:
Full‑time, 12‑hour day shifts (36 weekly hours). Hourly pay ranges from $26.00 to $36.00. Sign‑on incentive of $30,000 is offered. Eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits.
